Scarab Threadless Piercing EndScarab Threadless Piercing EndMixed Gold, 14K Yellow and Rose GoldThis intricately detailed scarab was designed using Rhinoceros CAD software and sculpted in low relief to highlight the form’s dimensionality. The design was 3D-printed in wax and then cast in metal using the traditional lost-wax casting method. The wings were precisely laser-cut to ensure a perfect fit, and the components were meticulously welded and polished by hand.Created at an exceptionally small scale, this scarab is designed to function as a wearable element of body piercing jewelry—serving as a decorative end for pieces such as threadless posts or barbells. It is suitable for both everyday wear and more formal or expressive styling. Finished size: 6mm at its widest point. This piece was made in January 2024 as part of a collaborative insect-themed body jewelry series for Intrinsic Body Jewelry in San Francisco, CA.
Turquoise Succulent EarringsTurquoise Succulent EarringsSterling Silver and TurquoiseThis handcrafted pair of sterling silver earrings was custom made using the client’s own stabilized turquoise stones. The stones, naturally textured and individually polished, were set into bezels I hand-fabricated from 0.925 sterling silver. Despite subtle differences in the stones, the final design forms a cohesive and balanced matching set.To reflect the client’s deep appreciation for cacti and Southwestern art, I added cast sterling silver succulent cactus elements to the base of each earring. The turquoise was set using traditional stone-setting techniques with a hammer and punch, ensuring a secure and classic finish.Designed for everyday wear, these custom turquoise earrings embody the spirit of the desert and the joy of travel—perfect for someone whose style is rooted in adventure and place-based storytelling. Each earring measures approximately 0.75 inches at its widest point.Handmade in Oakland, California, February 2025.
Gnostic Vessel Heirloom PendantGnostic Vessel Heirloom PendantSterling Silver, Hand-Carved Antler, RubyThis pendant was painstakingly carved and assembled from multiple wax pieces, then cast in sterling silver using the lost wax-method, making this piece truly one of a kind. After casting the piece was given a surface treatment with liver of sulfur to blacken certain areas. Finally a customized chain was added, and the antler was secured and the ruby was prong set in a long, talon style prong. These antlers are hand carved by Arizona based artist Jeremy Hawkins. This piece was intended to be worn for ceremonial purposes and special occasions and is a little too big for daily wear. The intention behind this work was also to help create an heirloom jewelry item for Jeremy to hand down to his family. Using a lot of the flowing geometric carving style, which Jeremy uses most in his artwork, my goal was to mirror this style and create one flowing design, combining geometric motifs across curving organic forms and lending a sense of history in some of the more architectural shapes and elements of this piece. This work measure about 6 inches tall and about 2 inches wide at it’s widest point, and is built into an 18” chain. Made in Oakland, Ca in August 2024.
Bead-Set Brass Settings – Technique ExplorationBead-Set Decorative Brass Settings - Technique ExplorationCrafted in brass and set with 6.0mm cubic zirconia stones, this project highlights advanced stone-setting techniques designed for body and fine jewelry applications. Using hand-sharpened gravers, I achieved a high-polish bright cut, followed by bead setting and the application of milgrain detailing to create two decorative variations: a classic square layout and a six-pointed star design. These decorative settings add brilliant sparkle, texture, and visual intrigue to any piece with sufficient thickness for deep engraving. The result is an elegant, timeless aesthetic with a handmade quality that invites closer inspection—leaving viewers to wonder: How could this possibly be made by hand?Fabricated from 4mm brass plate and completed in 2025 at the GRS educational facility in Emporia, Kansas, this work reflects a deep exploration of traditional engraving and stone-setting techniques, with potential for integration into custom jewelry and body adornment.
Facet RingFacet Ring0.925 Sterling Silver with AmethystLike most of my traditional jewelry, this ring was one of a kind and hand-carved from wax and cast in my studio using a centrifugal force casting machine, with extra care taken to maintain the most sustainable practices whenever possible. All finishing is completed by hand before meticulously flush setting the small and fragile Amethysts. Made to stand up to daily wear with beauty, grace and sparkle. The process of modeling and bringing a piece of jewelry to life, from wax to a mirror-polished surface is pretty magical. At the moment when your torch melts the raw metal that will become a ring, with so much effort and focus culminating in one place, you can really feel closer to the raw elements. I hope to imbue some of that magic, wonder and love for the magical things we produce with our hands in each piece of jewelry I create. This Facet Ring is a size 7.5, and measures about 6mm wide, but all shapes, stone varieties and sizes are available, given time to carve the wax and source the materials. Made in 2024 at in my studio in West Oakland, CA.
Synthetic Opal Septum and Daith ClickersSeptum and Daith Clickers. Implant-Grade Titanium and Synthetic Opal. These clickers were made using a combination of hand fabrication and multi-axis CNC machines to cut all individual parts to extremely tight tolerances, usually within 1/1000th of an inch. Then, the stones were set by hand, using a purpose built punch for speed and precision, requiring the utmost care with the extremely fragile opals. After stonesetting, everything is assembled with a laser welding machine, under microscope for maximum quality and attention to detail. These hinged, clicking rings are made to be worn in a pierced septum or daith, with extreme attention paid to the wearability and the smooth function of the hinge and latch.Body piercing is a part of human history dating back at least 5000 years, to the time of last ice age, if not longer. Scientists discovered a well preserved man with pierced ears, large stretched lobes and tattoos, preserved in ice in the Austrian Alps. This style of adornment holds a place in human culture as an art form and as a mode of personal ritual. I make jewelry like this to help people adorn themselves as a part of their ceremony, rites of passage, and personal ritual, alchemizing the pain of the piercing into a beautiful adornment. These clicker rings have a 5/16s” internal diameter, with a 6mm wearable surface. Made in 2024 at Intrinsic Body Jewelry.
Sterling Silver Robot Heart PendantRobot Heart Pendant0.925 Recycled Sterling Silver, Reclaimed Circuit BoardThis piece started while I was teaching a youth metalsmithing class on using found objects in jewelry. By chance, I found a broken piece of e-waste and challenged myself to give it a new life. This circuit board is salvaged, and the rest is fabricated using recycled sterling silver, hand designed and pierced to fit the specific circuit board used. Then, each piece is assembled by hand, hand hammering each rivet into place before being polished to a high luster. These pieces are made for daily wear and sturdy enough to stand the test of time.Humans have an interesting connection to precious materials. Historically, the rarity and shine of an item or material have played into this highly. In the age of technology we are rapidly advancing year after year, and we have already seen what happened during the microchip shortages during the Covid-19 shelter in place. I think these circuit boards are an exceedingly rare material, considered in the timespan of human history, and they won’t be around forever either, and moreover they are interesting and beautiful beyond their circuitry’s intended purpose. These Pendants range about 1.5”x1”x0.25”, and come with a chain chosen with intention to match the semi-bespoke style of the piece. Handmade in Oakland, CA 2022.These are all made as semi-bespoke: similar design, different drawings and styles and circuit boards every time, and us such each one is unique and one of a kind.
Hex Hive Cuff-linksHex-Hardware CufflinksUpcycled Stainless Steel Bolts with Gold EnamelThis pair of custom cufflinks was handcrafted from upcycled stainless steel hardware, giving new life to industrial materials through skilled metalsmithing. Each cufflink is made from three stainless steel bolts, carefully cut, ground, and welded together before being polished to a mirror finish. The hexagonal cavities were then filled with gold enamel, creating a striking contrast between the metallic steel and warm golden accents.Designed for formal occasions, these one-of-a-kind wedding cufflinks were commissioned as a deeply meaningful gift for a groom. The groom’s family owns the hardware company that manufactures the bolts, while the bride’s family produces the enamel—making these cufflinks a symbolic union of two family legacies, beautifully embodied in a wearable piece of art. These upcycled men’s accessories measure approximately 1.5 cm across at the face, offering a bold yet refined detail to any formal outfit. Perfect for weddings, anniversaries, or special occasions, they combine sustainable design with personal storytelling.Handmade in San Francisco, California, in 2023.
Golden Buzz - BumbleBee Gold Piercing JewelryGolden Buzz - Piercing End14k Yellow GoldI designed this bee piercing end in CAD, using Rhinoceros 7, then 3D printed it in wax, cast and polished it. This piece is intended to be worn as a threadless end for piercing jewelry, as a focal point piercing, or in a larger area such as an ear conch, helix, forward helix or tragus piercing. If you love bees like I do, maybe this piece is for you. This bee measures about 6.5mm across, wingtip to wingtip.Designed and manufactured for Intrinsic Body Jewelry in San Francisco, California, in 2023.
Scarab PendantMixed Metals Scarab PendantBrass, Copper, 0.925 Sterling Silver, Turquoise, and AmberThis handcrafted scarab pendant is meticulously fabricated from mixed metals, combining the warmth of brass, the richness of copper, and the durability of 0.925 sterling silver. The scarab’s body is cut from copper sheet and mounted onto a brass backing, with hand-fabricated sterling silver bezels securing genuine turquoise and amber cabochons. The pendant features a 4mm inner-diameter bail, making it suitable for a variety of chains and ideal for both everyday wear and special occasions.Created as a tribute to the enduring legacy of scarab jewelry, this piece honors the ancient Egyptian tradition of beetle amulets and their powerful symbolism. According to Brittanica.com:“Since the scarab hieroglyph, Kheper, refers variously to the ideas of existence, manifestation, development, growth, and effectiveness, the beetle itself was a favourite form used for amulets in all periods of Egyptian history.Scarabs of various materials, glazed steatite being most common, form an important class of Egyptian antiquities. Such objects usually have the bases inscribed or decorated with designs and are simultaneously amulets and seals. Though they first appeared in the late Old Kingdom (c. 2575–c. 2130 bce), when they evolved from the so-called button seals, scarabs remained rare until Middle Kingdom times (1938–c. 1630 bce), when they were fashioned in great numbers. Some were used simply as ornaments, while others were purely amuletic in purpose, as the large basalt “heart scarabs” of the New Kingdom (1539–1075 bce) and later times, which were placed in the bandages of mummies and were symbolically identified with the heart of the deceased. A winged scarab might also be placed on the breast of the mummy, and later a number of other scarabs were placed about the body.”Measuring approximately 2.5 x 2 inches, this wearable piece of art blends historical inspiration with contemporary metalsmithing.Handmade in San Francisco, California, in 2021.
